The euro rose to 2.9274 lari on 17 October, 0.0200 higher than the 2.9074 recorded on 14 October, while the US dollar barely moved: 2.5982 lari on 17 October against 2.5989 on 14 October. For a company invoicing in euros the cost of the same contract shifted over those three readings; dollar exposures were effectively unchanged.
Prices and policy both sat still. Annual inflation was 5.6% in August, up from 5.5% in July and below June's 5.8% — a third month inside a narrow band. The National Bank of Georgia has held the monetary policy rate at 8.25% through its June, July and September decisions, a quarter of a point above the 8.00% at which 2025 ended.
Growth is the outlier. Real GDP grew 9.0% in the first quarter of 2026 on the provisional estimate, after 6.7% and 6.4% in the two preceding quarters, which are also provisional and subject to revision.
