The euro eased to 2.9257 lari on 3 October from 2.9576 on 1 October, a move of 0.0319 in the lari's favour across the three sessions shown. The dollar was all but unchanged over the same dates, at 2.6039 lari against 2.6047, so this was a euro move rather than a broad repricing of the lari — it matters mainly to firms invoicing or borrowing in euro.
Annual inflation was 5.6% in August, up from 5.5% in July and below the 5.8% of June. The direction changes from month to month; the level does not. Prices have been rising at close to this pace through the summer, and above the National Bank's target.
Real GDP growth was 9.0% in the first quarter of 2026 on provisional data, 2.3 percentage points faster than the provisional 6.7% of the fourth quarter of 2025 and above the 6.4% of the third quarter. These readings are provisional and subject to revision. The National Bank has held the policy rate at 8.25% at its 17 June, 29 July and 9 September decisions — 0.25 percentage points above the 8.00% at which the rate closed both 2024 and 2025.
