The euro eased to 2.9154 lari on 10 October from 2.9576 on 1 October, a fall of 0.0422 and by a wide margin the largest move across the eight sessions shown. The US dollar barely registered: it slipped in every single session but finished at 2.6005 lari, only 0.0042 below where it started.
The Russian rouble was the most volatile of the regional rates. 100 roubles bought 3.1039 lari on 1 October, 3.0135 on 7 October and 3.0545 on 10 October. Elsewhere the moves were marginal — the Turkish lira at 0.0527 lari against 0.0531, the Azerbaijani manat at 1.5298 against 1.5324, and 1000 Armenian dram at 7.1720 lari against 7.1680.
The practical distinction is one of currency of settlement: contracts priced in dollars sit where they did on 1 October, contracts priced in euros do not. The next Federal Reserve rate decision is scheduled for 28 October.
