Foreign direct investment rose 7.61% in 2025 to 1,688,665 thousand US dollars on provisional figures, ending two consecutive years of decline — 18.63% in 2024 and 13.30% in 2023.
The recovery is narrower than the growth rate suggests. The 2025 level remains below the 1,928,462 thousand dollars recorded in 2023, and foreign direct investment measured against GDP fell again, to 4.4% from 4.6% in 2024 and 6.3% in 2023. Inflows grew in dollar terms, but more slowly than the economy, so foreign capital financed a smaller part of it than it did in 2024 or 2023.
Quarterly net direct investment in the financial account points to an uneven 2026 so far: 170,949 thousand dollars in the first quarter, then 364,310 thousand in the second, close to the 363,562 thousand recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025. The 2025 annual figures are provisional and may be revised.
